Unics Kazan – Monaco

This game is a highly-anticipated rematch of last season’s 7DAYS EuroCup Finals. AS Monaco (1-0) plays its first-ever Turkish Airlines EuroLeague road game fresh off a 12-point home victory against six-time champions Panathinaikos OPAP Athens. Danilo Andjusic led Monaco with 17 points, Mike James added 11 and Donta Hall, Paris Lee and Donatas Motiejunas each scored 10 for the Principality powerhouse. UNICS Kazan (0-1) was the only team to lost at home in Round 1, registering a 69-70 defeat against Zenit St Petersburg. Isaiah Canaan led UNICS with 18 points, Mario Hezonja had 14 and John Brown 10. Monaco swept UNICS in the 2021 EuroCup Finals and makes its first trip to Basket Hall Kazan since lifting the trophy on that court. Monaco has beaten UNICS in all four of their previous matchups in European competitions, twice in the 2020 EuroCup Top 16 and twice in the 2021 EuroCup Finals.

Anadolu Efes – CSKA Moscow

This game is a rematch of the 2019 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Game and one of last season’s EuroLeague semifinals. There is no time like the present for the rivalry between reigning champion Anadolu Efes Istanbul (0-1) and eight-time winner CSKA Moscow (0-1). Efes comes off a 13-point road loss at Real Madrid and hopes to bounce back in front of its fans; it will be the first EuroLeague game with thousands of spectators at Sinan Erdem Sports Hall in a long time. Shane Larkin had 21 points against Real, Filip Petrusev 17 and Vasilije Micic 9. CSKA suffered an 84-74 road defeat against AX Armani Exchange Milan and lost starting center Nikola Milutinov due to a knee injury. Iffe Lundberg led CSKA in scoring with 13 points. Will Clyburn had 12 and Nikita Kurbanov 10.

Olympiacos – Real Madrid

This game is a rematch of the 1995, 2013 and 2015 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Games. Olympiacos Piraeus (1-0) opened the 2021-22 EuroLeague season with a 75-50 home win against Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz after leading 47-22 at halftime. Sasha Vezenkov led the way with 16 points, Moustapha Fall added 11 and Kostas Sloukas 10. The Reds have not won their opening two EuroLeague home games since the 2017-18 campaign.

Real Madrid (1-0) defeated reigning champion Anadolu Efes Istanbul 82-69 in the Spanish capital. Guerschon Yabusele and Thomas Huertel paced Real with 15 points apiece. Walter Tavares added 13 points and 12 rebounds. These two teams are set to face each other for the 45th time since their first matchup in 1979 when Real defeated Olympiacos 113-72 behind 37 points from Walter Szczerbiak. Los Blancos have a 24-20 record against The Reds in European competitions.

ALBA Berlin – Villeurbanne

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne (1-0) had a brilliant start of the season with a convincing 88-76 home win over Zalgiris Kaunas in front of over 4,000 fans at the Astroballe. Elie Okobo impressed everyone in his first EuroLeague game, leading ASVEL with 23 points, Chris Jones added 14 and Youssoupha Fall had 12. ASVEL travels to the German capital to face ALBA Berlin (0-1) at the magnificent Mercedes-Benz Arena, home of the 2022 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four. ALBA registered a 32-point loss against FC Barcelona in Round 1. Luke Sikma led ALBA with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while setting a new EuroLeague club record with 7 offensive boards. Maodo Lo added 12 points for the German champs. These teams are set to face each other for the 12th time in European competitions. ALBA has a 7-4 record against ASVEL and won at the Astroballe last season, 89-95, behind 21 points from Peyton Siva.

Baskonia – AX Milano

Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (0-1) comes off a 25-point road loss against Olympiacos Piraeus in which it was held to 50 points, its lowest scoring output in a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague game since November 2012. Rokas Giedraitis led Baskonia with 15 points, Matt Costello added 11 and Steven Enoch 7. AX Armani Exchange Milan (1-0) showed its power by downing CSKA Moscow 84-74 at home. Shavon Shields and Sergio Rodriguez – in his 300th EuroLeague game – led the way with 17 points apiece. Nicolo Melli added 15 for the Italian powerhouse.

Despite facing each other for the first time in 2009, Baskonia and Milan are meeting on a EuroLeague court for the 20th time. Baskonia has a 10-9 winning record against Milan and is 7-2 at home. These two head coaches, Ettore Messina and Dusko Ivanovic, faced each other in the 2001 EuroLeague Finals, Kinder Bologna vs. Baskonia. Kinder, led by Messina, beat Ivanovic’s Baskonia 3-2.
