Crvena Zvezda – Olympiacos

Fresh off an impressive road win at league-leading FC Barcelona on Tuesday night, Olympiacos Piraeus (6-5) will look to turn it into a winning streak when it visits Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade (4-8) on Thursday. The Reds, who stopped a two-game slide with the victory, face a Zvezda team that has dropped three straight games. Olympiacos is 3-2 on the road, while Zvezda is 2-3 at home this season, including defeats in its last two games in the Serbian capital.

Zvezda is last in the league in both two-point shooting (48.5%) and assists (13.9 apg.) and the two numbers are related. The many missed shots have lowered the assist numbers, but the low assist numbers also testify to fewer good looks for the Zvezda scorers. Improved ball movement and more-accurate shooting could lift Zvezda higher.

Langston Hall has missed Zvezda’s last two games.

Olympiacos looked great on Tuesday, but two of its stars, Kostas Sloukas and Hassan Martin, played a lot of minutes and are unlikely to repeat that. Accordingly, Coach Bartzokas will need others to step up with veterans Vassilis Spanoulis and Georgios Printezis and backup center Octavius Ellis among the natural candidates. If the Reds’ second unit shine, it could make all the difference in this game.

ALBA Berlin – Fenerbahce

ALBA Berlin (4-7) comes off a road win in Valencia and has won three of its last five games after a 1-5 start. Luke Sikma (9.5 ppg., 5.8 rpg.), Peyton Siva (8.7 ppg., 5.3 apg.) and Niels Giffey (9.5 ppg.) are leading the team right now. Fenerbahce (5-7) snapped a four-game losing streak with a road victory against Zenit St Petersburg. Lorenzo Brown (12.2 ppg., 4.8 apg.), Jan Vesely (11.2 ppg., 5.7 rpg.) and Danilo Barthel (8.3 ppg.) are its pillars with Nando De Colo sidelined.

In Round 12, ALBA outrebounded Valencia 23-39 and buried 17 of 32 three-point shots despite being without two of its best shooters, Simone Fontecchio and Marcus Eriksson. Siva had 10 of his team’s 28 assists while Jayson Granger and Maodo Lo each added 5. It is necessary for ALBA that its guards keep sharing the ball like that, as the German champion has good shooters everywhere; all nine players who took three-point shots against Valencia hit at least one.

ALBA will be without shooting guard Marcus Eriksson and forward Lorenz Brenneke for the next few weeks due to ankle injuries.

After allowing at least 86 points in each of its four consecutive losses, Fenerbahce limited Zenit to just 65 points. That defensive effort is needed against an offensive-minded team like ALBA, which scored 100 points in each of its last two wins and just 55 in its last loss. Fenerbahce ranks 17th in offensive rebounds (7.7 orpg.) while ALBA is fourth (10.9 orpg.). Being able to box out under its own rim and be more aggressive to look for second-chance opportunities are two of the keys for Fener.

De Colo has been sidelined with a calf muscle injury.

basketball prediction Tip: Over 159.5 at 1.90 with bet365

Valencia – Efes

Valencia Basket will look to put an end to a two-game slide on Thursday when it hosts Anadolu Efes Istanbul. The two teams are tied for sixth place in the standings with 7-5 records. It will be the second game in 48 hours for both teams. Valencia fell to Zenit St Petersburg at home on Tuesday for its second straight home loss and third this season. Efes, which outlasted LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, is seeking its fifth consecutive road win.

Valencia leads the league in two-point shooting at 58.5%, but knows there won’t be many easy scores in the paint against Efes when Dunston or Tibor Pleiss are in the game. However, thanks to the outside shooting of Dubljevic and Mike Tobey and the abilities of forwards Derrick Williams and Nikola Kalinic to attack the basket, Coach Pansarnau’s squad may have what it takes to neutralize the Efes big men in a critical facet of the game.

Vanja Marinkovic has missed Valencia’s last seven games due to a shoulder injury. Joan Sastre is sidelined with a partial tear to the internal lateral ligament of his right knee.

The Efes attack has been merely average from behind the arc (37.6%) this season after knocking down 42.1% of their threes last year. On Tuesday, the team shot 2 for 9 from downtown which marked its fewest attempts since 2012. Valencia is allowing teams to convert 40.2% of threes so far this season. If Shane Larkin, Vasilije Micic and Adrien Moerman take advantage to rain threes in this game, it could not only lead to a victory but a turning point for Coach Ataman’s men.

Krunoslav Simon is suffering from a back injury.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (-2.5) at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 10/12/2020, 10:30 CET, subject to change)

Real – Zenit

Two of the hottest teams in the league meet in a Thursday showdown when Real Madrid hosts Zenit St. Petersburg. Real (7-5) has won six of its last seven games and Zenit (7-3) is undefeated in six games on the road. Two players will be facing their former teams; Zenit sharpshooter K.C. Rivers won the 2015 EuroLeague with Real. The hosts’ point guard Nicolas Laprovittola played for Zenit in 2017-18.

Real has been outrebounded on average by 2.4 rebounds per game and is in the bottom half of the standings with 8.8 offensive rebounds per game. Zenit has outrebounded its opponents by nearly 3 rebounds per game. Between Tavares, Anthony Randolph and Trey Thompkins, Real has a decisive size advantage in the frontline and needs to turn that into a rebounding advantage to improve the hosts’ chances in this game.

Zenit will play its second road game in 48 hours and three of its perimeter players – Austin Hollins, K.C. Rivers and Kevin Pangos – spent more than 28 minutes on the floor in Tuesday’s victory in Valencia. Billy Baron, Vitaly Fridzon and Mateusz Ponitka may be needed to play more minutes in Madrid and if they are up for the challenge, it would surely help Zenit as it seeks another road win.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (+8.0) at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 10/12/2020, 10:30 CET, subject to change)

Baskonia – Maccabi

Baskonia (6-5) has won four of its last five games and returns home after back-to-back road wins over Olympiacos Piraeus and Anadolu Efes Istanbul. Alec Peters (12.9 ppg.), Rokas Giedraitis (12.5 ppg.) and Pierria Henry (11.3 ppg., 6.9 apg., 1.9 spg.) are leading the team right now. Maccabi (4-8) beat Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade in Round 12 and looks for its first EuroLeague road win since October. Scottie Wilbekin (18.0 ppg.), Elijah Bryant (10.8 ppg.) and Ante Zizic (9.6 ppg.) are its top scorers this season.

Getting its frontcourt involved is a must for Baskonia. Against Efes, Peters, Achille Polonara, Youssoupha Fall and Tonye Jekiri combined for 51 points and 25 rebounds. Baskonia’s frontcourt has plenty of size, deep shooting range and physicality, but stopping Zizic and Othello Hunter is necessary for the hosts. The teams lead the charts in rebounds – Maccabi is first at 37.1 per game with Baskonia right behind at 35.4. If Baskonia limits Wilbekin on defense and outrebounds Maccabi, it has better chances to get another win.

Luca Vildoza is day-to-day with a back injury.

Stopping Peters is a must for all teams facing Baskonia right now, as he has been on fire lately, scoring both inside and outside. Omri Casspi and Angelo Caloiaro are Maccabi’s best options to guard him. On offense, Maccabi relies on Wilbekin to make the difference and on Chris Jones and John DiBartolomeo to set a game tempo that allows their team to play in transition. Maccabi is expected to use Angelo Caloiaro and Dragan Bender to open the floor with their outside shooting, bringing Jekiri and Fall out of the paint.

Yovel Zoosman is fit to make his first appearance of the season against Baskonia.

Euroleague Basketball Predictions

The Euroleague continues with a double-round week and the battle for the playoffs is taking one of its final turns. So, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming up.

Yes, these are the best Euro League basketball tips you can possible find and appear under each mini game preview.

Maccabi – Fenerbahce

The excellent home record of Maccabi (13-13) will be put to the test when high-flying Fenerbahce (16-9) pays a visit, hoping to maintain its top-four position with a fourth straight victory. The return to fitness of Nemanja Bjelica, who finally played his first game of the season in last week’s rout of Virtus, has boosted the Turkish team. Tyler Dorsey, another new face at Fenerbahce, could make his debut in familiar surroundings after debuting in the competition with two strong seasons at Maccabi between 2019 and 2021.

2 at 1.90

Crvena Zvezda – Anadolu Efes

Efes (13-12) is looking to extend its lead in the table with a third straight road win and inflict more pain on host Zvezda (11-15), which is in a slump after losing six of its last seven games. Facundo Campazzo will make his home EuroLeague debut for Zvezda, and his ability to overcome Elijah Bryant’s strong defensive game will be crucial. In the absence of injured superstar Vasilije Micic, the Efes guard has stepped up big time, averaging 13.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in the last three games.

Under 159.5 at 1.90

Monaco – Panathinaikos

Monaco (16-10) will look to keep the pressure on the current top four by defeating Panathinaikos (8-18), which is looking to snap a five-game losing streak. A key matchup will take place between two potent shooters facing off against their former teams: Mike James, who played for Panathinaikos from 2016 to 2018, leads Monaco with 17.0 points per game, while Dwayne Bacon, who spent last season with Monaco, leads the Greens with 17.7 points.

Euroleague Basketball Predictions

The Euroleague continues with a double-round week and the battle for the playoffs is taking one of its final turns. So, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming up.

Yes! These are the best Euro League basketball tips you can possible find and appear under each mini game preview.

Alba Berlin – Zalgiris

With a trip to Berlin to play bottom-placed ALBA, struggling Zalgiris (13-13) will seek to improve its poor away form (7-19). The Lithuanian team has dropped out of the top eight after losing four consecutive road games, and it desperately needs to increase its offensive output after failing to reach 80 points in any of the previous eight games. ALBA should be an ideal opponent in that quest: the German team has allowed the most points, 85.3 per game, and was defeated 88-81 in November when the teams played in Kaunas.

Over 161.5 at 1.90

Olympiacos – Barcelona

As Olympiacos (18-8) welcomes Barcelona, a big battle between second and third could easily serve as a prelude to a Final Four meeting (18-8). Olympiacos is looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat at Milan last week, while Barcelona is on a five-game winning streak and has the added incentive of regaining the head-to-head edge after losing 70-80 at home to the Reds earlier this season. The game’s rhythm will be important: Olympiacos has the most assists in the league, 22.0 per game, while Barcelona’s defence permits only 13.4 assists per game.

2 (+3.5) at 1.90

Valencia – Milano

Milan’s (10-15) late surge up the standings will be put to the test with a journey to playoff-chasing Valencia (13-13), which is desperate to avenge a thrashing at Baskonia last week. Milan’s four-game winning stretch – all at home – was highlighted by a strong run of form from Billy Baron, who averaged 13.3 points and 3.5 assists during that time. After permitting at least 91 points in three of the last four games, three of which ended in defeat, it’s no surprise that Valencia will prioritise defence.

Over 158.5 at 1.90

Virtus Bologna – Partizan

Virtus (12-14) will seek to get back on track against a Partizan (14-12) team that is aiming not only for the playoffs but also for a spot in the top four. Partizan’s potent offence, which averages 84.8 points per game, is salivating at the thought of facing Virtus, which allowed 104 points to Fenerbahce last week. Virtus, in particular, allowed the Turkish team to hit 20 three-pointers in that game and now faces Aleksa Avramovic, who hit 5 three-pointers in last week’s victory over ALBA, so better perimeter defence is critical for Virtus.

Partizan Over 82.5 at 1.83

Real Madrid – Baskonia

Real (18-7) will seek for their sixth consecutive win by defeating visiting Baskonia (14-12), who could not be more confident of pulling off an upset after blasting 114 points against Valencia last week. Real Madrid is expected to be without Edy Tavares, who limped off the court in the team’s last EuroLeague game on Friday, so Baskonia may attempt to gain physical supremacy after grabbing an incredible 43 rebounds against Valencia. Guerschon Yabusele, on the other hand, is expected to return for Real at an appropriate time given the probable absence of Tavares.

Under 168.5 at 1.90

Bayern – Villeurbanne

Bayern (10-16) will try to keep its slim playoff hopes alive against an ASVEL (8-18) side with little time to climb the standings. The return to fitness of team leader Vladimir Lucic, who appeared for the first time since Round 10 in last week’s win over Zvezda and instantly delivered a big performance with 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field, has been a tremendous boost for Bayern. ASVEL has only lost by one point to Efes and four points to Real in its last two games, so its confidence should be intact for the journey to Bavaria.

Winning margin 7-way: 1-5 points at 2.90

(All prices correct at 07/03/2023, 09:00 CET, subject to change)
