Fenerbahce – Khimki

This game is a battle between powerhouses with deep, versatile rosters. Fenerbahce comes off a road win against ASVEL and wants to keep climbing the table in front of its fans. After a 6-2 start, Khimki suffered back-to-back road losses and needs to regain momentum as soon as possible. Nando De Colo (20.9 ppg.) has been Fenerbahce’s best scorer until now, followed by Derrick Williams (10.9 ppg.) and Kostas Sloukas (8.5 ppg.). De Colo, however, has been sidelined for the last three games. Alexey Shved (19.3 ppg.), Devin Booker (12.7 ppg.) and Janis Timma (12.7 ppg.) have led Khimki so far this season.

Fenerbahce must improve its scoring, as it ranks 16th overall with 73.6 points per game. It is also allowing opponents to make 40.2% of their three-point shots, so better and more aggressive perimeter defense is required. If Nando De Colo remains sidelined, Kostas Sloukas, Derrick Williams and Luigi Datome will keep sharing more responsibilities. Ali Muhammed and Vladimir Stimac, who both come off great games in France, must confirm their good form against Khimki.

Nikola Kalinic, Leo Westermann and Jan Vesely are out due to injuries. Nando De Colo has started practicing with the team, but he still remains as ‘game-time decision’.

Khimki is one of the best scoring teams in the EuroLeague (85.6 ppg.) and is shooting really well from two-point range (54.9%). Khimki is doing a good job of limiting its turnovers (13.0 per game) and is sharing the ball well (18.0 apg.). Good ball circulation will be needed against a tough team like Fenerbahce, so Jovic and Shved must be ready to help Khimki find open looks. If Khimki is patient and determined, it has the talent to beat anyone.

Alexey Shved will miss the game against Fenerbahce due to injury, but Janis Timma will be available in Istanbul.

basketball prediction Tip: 1 (-6.5) at 2.00 with bet365
(Price correct at 28/11/2019, 11:45 CET, could have changed)

Crvena Zvezda – Valencia

A pair of teams on the upswing will duel on Thursday when Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade hosts Valencia Basket. Zvezda comes off its first road win of the season last week at Zalgiris and even its 2-3 record at home is misleading since those losses were all close calls. Moreover, the Serbian champs should be rejuvenated by the arrival of new head coach Dragan Sakota. Valencia has won four of its last five games, but is winless in its four road trips thus far and now begins a run of three straight away games.

When a new coach arrives, many changes can be expected. Chief among them is always to fix what appears to be broken. Zvezda has excelled on the defensive end, allowing the fourth-fewest points per game (76.4). However, it is last in the league in both two-point (45.9%) and three-point (31.7%) shooting accuracy and has scored the second-fewest points (71.7 ppg.). Expect Coach Sakota to emphasize that and for the team to be taking better shots in what will be a key to this game.

Derrick Brown is doubtful due to knee problems while Stratos Perperoglou will miss the next 4 to 6 weeks also with a knee injury.

Valencia must take the confidence from its winning streak on the plane to Serbia, because to date when the team has left the borders of Spain, things have fallen apart. Its lone road loss by single figures was at FC Barcelona. In Valencia’s other three road games, it’s averaged 68.7 points and lost by an average margin of 16.7 points. In each of those games, Valencia has been outrebounded, too. Playing with greater confidence could make all the difference for Valencia in Belgrade.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (+4.5) at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 28/11/2019, 11:45 CET, could have changed)

ALBA Berlin – Zalgiris

After winning two of its last three games, ALBA Berlin will look to keep its positive momentum going when it hosts Zalgiris Kaunas. Before turning things around, ALBA had lost three games in a row. Zalgiris, which has now lost four straight games, hopes to change places with ALBA and start its own positive run. It will be a clash of styles as ALBA is fourth in the league in scoring (84.6 ppg.) and allows the most points (91.0 ppg.). Zalgiris is in the bottom third in both points scored (74.8 ppg.) and points allowed (76.5 ppg.). New signing K.C. Rivers could help change that.

It starts with defense. Despite a series of injuries, ALBA has found ways to score game-in and game-out. However, it has allowed the most points in the league. The only times ALBA has held opponents to 80 points or fewer, it has won. Teams are shooting 40.9% on three-pointers against ALBA and that is something that Coach Garcia Reneses must find a solution for, especially against Zalgiris’s standout shooters.

According to coach Aito, Tim Schneider, Tyler Cavanaugh, Johannes Thiemann and Stefan Peno will not be able to play this game and Peyton Siva has just returned from his injury.

The Zalgiris playing style under Coach Jasikevicius is the antithesis of ALBA’s. Zalgiris plays slower, tougher and tries to make every possession count. Where that has gone awry for the Lithuanian champs this season is three-point shooting; after leading the league in that category two years ago and finishing top-five last season, Zalgiris is in the bottom third this season at 33.8%. New signing K.C. Rivers could help Zalgiris change that and with more three-pointers falling, the team will be a bigger threat to win in the German capital.

Marius Grigonis did not travel to Berlin, because of his foot injury.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (-1.0) at 1.90 with bet365
(Price correct at 28/11/2019, 11:45 CET, could have changed)

Panathinaikos – Baskonia

Two teams that started winning streaks last week will face each other to keep it going when Panathinaikos OPAP Athens (6-4) welcomes KIROLBET Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (5-5) in Greece. Panathinaikos won its two road games last week, including a 75-87 win at FC Bayern Munich and reports claim that Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino, who announced last week that he is returning to Panathinaikos, will be on the bench for this game. Baskonia also won both of its games in the double-round week, both at home against Russian teams. It now travels to Athens to try to increase its winning run to three games.

The Greens seem to have found their pace again and Coach Pitino will try to pick up where he left it last season with many of the players he coached last year still on the team. Panathinaikos currently boasts the best offense in the league and it also has the best passer, which means that it loves to run the ball and play as many possessions as possible. However, the Greens also have the third-weakest defense in the league, so they will have to try to regroup and keep the Baskonia players at bay, especially when crashing the boards, the only aspect where the visitors significantly outperform the hosts, aside from the blocks (Baksonia leads the league with 4.7 bpg.)

On paper, it looks like Panathinaikos has the upper hand in this game, especially with the fact that the game is in OAKA. However, Baskonia comes form defeating two Russian teams, including defending champs CSKA Moscow, so the visitors come to Athens with an injection of morale. Coach Velimir Perasovic will have to look for a way to stop the flow in the Panathinaikos offense, which seems to be thriving lately. Limiting players like DeShaun Thomas and Nick Calathes will be key to hampering the Greens’ progress in the game. Baskonia must also pay attention to improve its efficiency from the charity stripe, as it currently holds the lowest percentage from that distance in the league.

basketball prediction Tip: Under 165.5 at 1.95 with bet365
(Price correct at 28/11/2019, 11:45 CET, could have changed)

Maccabi – ASVEL Villeurbanne

In a matchup of teams looking to bounce back quickly from a rough double-round week of games, Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv hosts LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on Thursday. The Israeli champs suffered a pair of road losses to see a six-game winning streak stopped, however, they remain undefeated in four games at home this season. ASVEL saw its perfect home record smashed by the two Istanbul teams, but can draw on the confidence gained in its last road game, a nail-biting win in the Serbian capital against Crvena Zvezda.

As a starting point, health. Omri Casspi has been spectacular for Maccabi this season and the team is 5-1 with him in the lineup and 1-3 without. Maccabi must also control the rebounding battle and get its points in transition. The team is tied for second in the league with 37.5 rebounds per game and its 86.3 points are second-most. Despite the presence of Tonye Jekiri, ASVEL is second-to-last in rebounding (31.7 rpg.) and its 71.5 points are bottom of the standings. Rebounding and running would play to Maccabi’s strengths and ASVEL’s weaknesses.

For a team relying on some teenage talents plus several other players in their first EuroLeague campaign, playing on a Thursday night at Menorah Mivtachim Arena is a challenge. However, ASVEL survived an equally stern test by beating Crvena Zvezda on the road. Playing its pace and style in Tel Aviv is a must; ASVEL is 0-4 this season when the opponent has scored at least 80 points. Point guards Antione Diot, Theo Maledon and Jordan Taylor – the latter of which has some experience in Tel Aviv from his two seasons with Hapoel Holon – will be charged with that task.

Euroleague Basketball Predictions

The action in the Euroleague continues. We have now completed the first third of the regular season and we can predict with more confidence on european basketball matches today. So, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games:

Our EuroLeague basketball tips appear under each mini game preview.

Panathinaikos – Milan

On Thursday at OAKA stadium in Athens, Panathinaikos (5-6) hosts Milan (3-8), two teams with recent trends in opposition, square off. Four of the Greens’ previous five games have ended in victories, including three straight at home. Milan has lost seven straight games mainly due to injuries, tying its worst losing streak in the EuroLeague this century.

Panathinaikos’ recent victories saw them allow 67 and 58 points, which are season highs for the team’s defence under head coach Dejan Radonjic. In each of those contests, five or more shooters connected on three-pointers, enabling the Greens move up to seventh place (38.0%) in three-point shooting efficiency. The big guns for Panathinaikos are Dwayne Bacon (18.5 ppg) and Derrick Williams (15.7), and if either player is at their best, this club can compete on the hishest level. Watch out if they are both.

The inability to rebound has been a problem for both sides. No team has outrebounded opponents less times than Panathinaikos (38.1 rpg.). Milan is the next team in that category with 37.5 rpg., but has only done it once in 11 games. Both sides have done a good job of guarding their own boards, but they have not contributed much on offence. Because of this, Panathinaikos and Milan have both allowed  more offensive rebounds than they have managed to grab on their own offensive glass. We chose a high-scoring game here with that in mind.

basketball prediction Tip: Over 152.5 at 2.00

Alba Berlin – Fenerbahce

In an intriguing matchup in the German capital, Fenerbahce (9-2) faces off against ALBA Berlin (3-8). ALBA has lost its last eight games after a 3-0 start. Fenerbahce remains in first place after last week’s home loss to Real Madrid. The last two times ALBA has visited Berlin, it has defeated Fenerbahce.

ALBA lifts its offensive by relying on its passing game. With 21.5 assists per game, Israel Gonzalez’s squad leads the EuroLeague. This year, Luke Sikma has averaged 6.4 assists per game as ALBA’s primary offensive conduit. To increase their chances of winning this game, the German champions must involve their numerous shooters, particularly Maodo Lo and Gabriele Procida. ALBA must stop Calathes and Hazer from controlling the game’s tempo on defence.

It will be difficult for Alba to win, but the handicap might not be covered.

basketball prediction Tip: 1 (+3.5) at 1.90

Maccabi – Valencia

Maccabi hosts Valencia in a matchup of two teams that are on the outside looking toward the playoff zone. Despite losing two straight games, Maccabi (5-6) has been one of the best teams at home this season, going 5-1 when playing at Menorah Mivtachim Arena. Valencia (5-6) just defeated Partizan in overtime and has a 3-2 winning road record this year.

Maccabi’s go-to player Lorenzo Brown (18.1 ppg, 6.5 apg) might have more support this week as Baldwin (15.6 ppg) and Hilliard are anticipated to return after missing Friday’s setback in Munich. Adams made a commendable transition, setting a personal best with 21 points in his debut EuroLeague game, and may be entitled to a bigger role moving ahead.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (+5.5) at 1.90

Partizan – Crvena Zvezda

In front of a sold-out crowd of 16,745 spectators at Stark Arena in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, Partizan (4-7) plays Crvena Zvezda (5-6) in one of the fiercest cross-town rivalries in sports.

Partizan enters the game in need of a victory after suffering back-to-back losses in which it scored at least 96 points but allowed more than 100 to its opponents, giving it the league’s worst defence (88.1 oppg.). Although Partizan attempts fewer long-range shots than 15 other teams, they are aggressive enough to rank second in both free throw success (16.9) and accuracy at the foul line (84.2%), where they are first in three-point efficiency (39.8%). Punter (15.9 ppg), Nunnally (11.2) and Exum (11.2) will likely handle the ball inside, followed by Lessort (12.7) and LeDay (13.9) on the outside. However, what they all do defensively may have a greater impact.

basketball prediction Tip: Partizan Over 83.5 at 1.83

Real Madrid – Monaco

Real Madrid (8-3) and Monaco (8-3) will face off against one another at the WiZink Center. Real is on a six-game winning streak following its lone home loss to Virtus Bologna in Round 5. After losing four straight meetings, the most recent coming at home in double OT, 84-90, last season, Monaco has won its previous two contests and is prepared to battle for its first-ever win over Los Blancos.

Real is crucial to getting the ball moving in transition since it leads the league in defensive rebounding (26.7 drpg.) and is second in blocked shots (4.0 bpg.). Connecting with Tavares and Poirier should be crucial in this game because Real ranks third in two-point shooting (58.5% 2FG) and has a size advantage in the paint at the “5” position. Abalde, Williams-Goos, and Hanga should all be utilised while playing a high-scoring club in order to halt Mike James.

basketball prediction Tip: Over 163.5 at 1.88

Euroleague Basketball Predictions

The action in the Euroleague continues. We have almost completed the first third of the regular season and we can predict with more confidence on european basketball matches today. So, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games:

Our EuroLeague basketball tips appear under each mini game preview.

Cvena Zvezda – Virtus Bologna

Friday night’s early tipoff at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall features a matchup between Crvena Zvezda (4-6) and Virtus Bologna (4-6), both of which are in same wins but different states of form.

Zvezda has won its previous three EuroLeague games after hiring Dusko Ivanovic as their head coach, defeating ASVEL Villeurbanne, ALBA Berlin, and Maccabi. Both point guard Vildoza and fellow guard Nedovic, who previously played for Coach Ivanovic at Baskonia, have begun to have a bigger influence. Curiously, only two players reached double digits in points in the victory over Maccabi: Nedovic had 12 and Martin had 11. Zvezda will probably have to work hard for every point it scores when facing a strong defence like Virtus, which has the fourth-best ranking in the EuroLeague on this end of the floor.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 at 2.15

Fenerbahce – Real Madrid

Both teams are in good shape going into their matchup at Ulker Sports and Event Hall: Fenerbahce (9-1) has just lost one game all season while Real Madrid (7-3) has won five consecutive.

Fenerbahce made a number of roster adjustments during the offseason, including the hiring of Dimitris Itoudis as the new head coach, and ever since, the team has been on fire. In addition to having the greatest record in the EuroLeague this season, Fenerbahce also has the second-highest ratings on attack and defence. Injury has kept Pierre out of the previous two games for Fenerbahce, but Hayes-Davis has filled in admirably. In two contests, Hayes-Davis actually led the club in scoring with 21 points against Monaco and 22 points at EA7 Milan. Due to an injury, Wilbekin will miss the Real Madrid game, but Los Blancos have already seen how much trouble they can cause when Hayes-Davis, Calathes, Motley, and Guduric are on the field.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (+1.5) at 1.95

Zalgiris – Panathinaikos

At Zalgirio Arena, Zalgiris (6-4) will play host to Panathinaikos (4-6), who has a 4-6 record and is coming off back-to-back victories in the EuroLeague double-round week.

Zalgiris is now 4-0 this season overall at Zalgirio Arena and has won four of its previous five games. Zalgiris are a very dangerous possibility in this year’s EuroLeague thanks to the never-say-die spirit that first-year head coach Maksvytis has fostered in his players. Evans, Smits, and club captain Ulanovas, who have all contributed significantly over the past few games, will be motivated to keep Zalgiris’s home winning streak intact when Panathinaikos visits.

basketball prediction Tip: Under 160.5 at 1.90

Bayern Munich – Maccabi

When it hosts Maccabi, Bayern Munich will try to get back on track. Before losing by one point in Monaco last week, Bayern (3-7) had won three of its previous four games. After losing in a thrilling match to Crvena Zvezda on Thursday in Belgrade, Maccabi (5-5) is still looking for its first road victory of the year. Additionally, Maccabi’s most recent victory in Munich was in March 2019.

Two former Bayern stars will travel back to Munich for the game. In 2021, Baldwin helped Bayern to within one shot of the Final Four, and Hilliard led Bayern in scoring last season with 13.7 points per game. Together, they and Lorenzo Brown form a lethal Maccabi backcourt. Baldwin (15.6 ppg, 4.5 apg) ranks second on the squad in both categories, while Brown (16.3 ppg) leads Maccabi in both. Brown is also tied for third in the league in assists (6.4 apg).

Alba Berlin – Barcelona

On Thursday night, Round 11 will feature a matchup between two teams at different ends of the spectrum as ALBA Berlin (3-7) hosts Barcelona (7-3). The 13th meeting between these two clubs in the EuroLeague this century will take place, with Barca winning 11 of the previous 12. Despite Jaleen Smith’s 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in a Round 10 loss to Olympiacos, ALBA has lost seven straight games since going 3-0 to open the season. With Jan Vesely scoring 18 points, Barcelona has won five of its previous six games, including its most recent victory over Baskonia, 96-84.

Few people would disagree that the reality is what it appears to be on paper. With the exception of turnovers and shooting percentages across the board, ALBA outperforms Barcelona in all significant statistical categories. Although they continue to lead the league in total rebounds (37.2) and assists (22.0), the hosts’ recent success has not been reflected in victories. The third-best league defence will force ALBA to put their offensive fireworks to the test. ALBA will also need to play tight on defence and work to reduce the 81.9 points it gives up per game. In order to try and end ALBA’s losing streak, players like Blatt, Olinde, and Sikma will have to stand up and help Smith in seizing the reins.

basketball prediction Tip: Under 160.5 at 1.90

Anadolu Efes – Olympiacos

At Sinan Erdem Sports Hall, Anadolu Efes (5-5) takes on Olympiacos (7-3) in a highly anticipated matchup. For the first time since the EuroLeague semifinals of last year, the teams square off. In that match, Vasilije Micic’s buzzer-beating three-pointer helped Efes defeat Olympiacos 74-77. Efes ultimately won the EuroLeague championship. Kostas Sloukas’ game-winning shot helped Olympiacos defeat Efes 87-85 in overtime earlier in the 2021–22 campaign. Expect a fantastic game with all the big characters still on their respective teams.

Efes is now on a three-game winning streak and may be in its finest shape of the year. Micic (18.2 ppg, 6.4 apg, 21.7) and Clyburn (20.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 22.3 PIR) have been the team’s leaders thus far this season, respectively placing first and second in terms of minutes played per game. In recent games, Efes has displayed a more diversified approach: Pleiss scored 13 points against EA7 Milan in Round 9, and Beaubois scored 19 points and had a PIR of 30 against Virtus Bologna in Round 10. With only 14.7 assists per night, Efes is tied for 15th in the league, thus there is room for growth during the season.

basketball prediction Tip: 1 (-4.5) at 1.95

Asvel Villeurbanne – Monaco

The Astroaballe will host the rematch between ASVEL Villeurbanne (3-7) and Monaco, two very familiar teams (7-3). Last season, these groups exchanged wins on the road in the EuroLeague. After Monaco defeated ASVEL 75-100 shortly after, ASVEL narrowly defeated Monaco 84-85 on a long buzzer-beating triple by Howard. Both teams advanced to the French League finals, when ASVEL defeated Monaco with a score of 3-2 after a tense playoff series.

Currently on a five-game losing streak in the EuroLeague, ASVEL is having trouble. Its primary pillars up until this point have been De Colo (12.3 ppg., 53.1% 3FG, 3.7 apg., 14.0 PIR), Mathews (10.8 ppg.), and Fall (10.5 ppg., 65.1% 2FG, 7.6 rpg., 14.4 PIR). Since ASVEL has only shot two points at 45.4% of its last five games, attacking the rim for simple baskets should be a priority for ASVEL when facing a run-and-gun team.

basketball prediction Tip: Over 157.5 at 1.87

Baskonia – Milano

Baskonia (5-5) welcomes EA7 Milan (7-3) in what should be an intriguing tactical matchup. Despite the fact that their initial encounter took place in 2009, this is their 22nd rendezvous. With a record of 11-10 against Baskonia, Milan won both of their meetings last year: 64-78 at Buesa Arena and 89-78 at Mediolanum Forum. Be prepared for a fierce basketball match.

Baskonia recently suffered a road setback to Barcelona but has played well at home this year, going 4-1 with Olympiacos Piraeus being the lone defeat. The home team leader in scoring (99.2 ppg) and PIR (113.2) is Baskonia, who also shoots the ball well (62.7% 2FG, 44.2% 2FG) and averages about 10 more points per game than any other team. Few teams can win at Buesa Arena if Baskonia maintains its regular home game numbers and plays at full throttle.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 at 2.90

Partizan – Valencia

When Partizan (4-6) hosts Valencia, there will be a match between two teams with the same record (4-6). LeDay put up a performance of 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, but Partizan’s trip to Spain last week ended in a defeat to Real Madrid. Although Valencia lost to Zalgiris at home, 76-80, despite Chris Jones’ 19 points and 7 assists, they also lost to Real previous week. Partizan and Valencia will be playing one other for the first time ever in the EuroLeague.

Partizan will use this as one of its main weapons against Valencia because it leads the league in three-point shooting accuracy at 41.1%. To increase their average of 14.7 assists, the hosts must watch the visitors’ aggressive defence (7.1 spg.) and work to improve ball circulation. Valencia ranks bottom in average blocks (1.3), thus there may be a chance for the hosts to earn their fifth victory in the paint.

basketball prediction Tip: Partizan Over 85.5 at 1.83

(All prices correct at 01/12/2022, 09:00 CET, subject to change)
