Defending champion Efes (2-5) aims for a third consecutive home win when Zenit (4-3) visits on Friday in Round 8. Efes comes off a 34-point victory against winless Zalgiris last week but must now test its resurgence against a Zenit team that won by 29 on its own home court against Baskonia. Zenit won in its last visit to Sinan Erdem Sports Hall, in last season’s opener, 69-73, behind 23 points from Kevin Pangos. Vasilije Micic scored 17 for Efes that night.

Zalgiris – ALBA Berlin

  • Zalgiris leads ALBA 5-3 in EuroLeague games between them this century and has won the last three games.

Zalgiris Kaunas (0-7) will be in search of its first win of the season when it welcomes ALBA Berlin (2-5) on Friday. This will be just the third home game this season for Zalgiris. Its seven defeats have come by a total average margin of 13.7 points but the two at home were lost by just 8 points combined. ALBA knows the feeling; three of its five losses have each come by the same exact margin, 4 points. ALBA registered two losses last week, including a 69-82 home loss in Round 7 against its German rival FC Bayern Munich. Zalgiris was on the road all last week and is coming off one of the worst losses in club history, a 34-point drubbing to the hands of the reigning champion Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

Olympiacos – Monaco

  • This is the first-ever official meeting between the two teams.

Two teams looking to continue their winning ways will clash for the first time ever on Friday when OlympiacosPiraeus (5-2) hosts the EuroLeague debutant AS Monaco (4-3). Both teams are coming off pairs of home wins from the double-round week. Olympiacos also enters the game with a perfect 5-0 record on its home floor after beating ALBA Berlin and Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul by 6 points combined last week, including a 67-65 triumph on a game-winning jumper by Kostas Sloukas with 2 seconds to go against his former team from Turkey. Monaco’s two wins came with far more comfortable margins, but were just as thrilling, especially when it rallied from 22 points down to beat CSKA Monaco 97-80. Now, Monaco will be looking to get is second road win of the season and ruin the Reds’ perfect home record.

Baskonia – Maccabi

  • Baskonia leads its head-to-head series against Maccabi 16-15 this century.

Two teams trending in opposite directions meet on Friday when Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (3-4) welcomes Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv (5-2) to the Basque Country. Baskonia comes off back-to-back double-digit beatings in Russia at the same time that Maccabi swept its two home games last week for a streak of four wins in a row. History has been evenhanded with these teams, as Baskonia leads their century series 16-15, but Maccabi won their last two games in Vitoria-Gasteiz, so don’t expect the visitors to flinch in the face of a great crowd at Buesa Arena.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (-1.5) at 2.00 with bet365

Bayern – Real Madrid

  • Real has a 7-2 record all-time against Bayern.

FC Bayern Munich (3-4) will look to keep its winning streak going when it welcomes Real Madrid (5-2) to town on Friday night. Bayern opened the season with four consecutive defeats, but has since won three games in a row. That includes a pair that Bayern registered last week, pulling out its only home win yet, against previously undefeated AX Armani Exchange Milan, before beating German rival ALBA Berlin on the road 69-82.

Real, on the other hand, will be hoping to get back to the victory column after having its four-game winning streak snapped with Round 7’s 65-58 loss at UNICS Kazan. Real has won each game in which it scored at least 70 points this season, and it now comes to Munich where it has never scored fewer than 81 in a game.
