Monaco – Zenit

  • This is the first-ever official clash between Monaco and Zenit.

Two teams that managed to put an end to losing streaks earlier in the week will now try to turn those victories into streaks when AS Monaco hosts Zenit St Petersburg on Friday. Monaco (6-9) had lost five in a row before defeating Zalgiris in Kaunas by 98-107 in overtime on Wednesday. On the same night, Zenit (9-6) ambushed LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on the road, 61-71, after having dropped its three previous games in a row. Both teams had strong starts to the season and are trying to regain their momentum at the end of 2021. With this duel, their first ever in official competitions, Zenit will look to keep in the upper half of the standings while Monaco will try to give head coach Sasa Obradovic his first home win of the season.

ALBA Berlin – CSKA Moscow

  • Last season in Moscow, ALBA shocked CSKA 88-93 for its only win in seven meetings against CSKA this century.

In a thrilling showdown in the German capital, ALBA Berlin (5-10) welcomes CSKA Moscow (9-6) to town on Friday. ALBA lost its last two games and is looking to bounce back. Maodo Lo (11.7 ppg., 3.2 apg.), Marcus Eriksson (12.8 ppg.) and Oscar Da Silva (10.6 ppg.) are leading the team right now. CSKA – led by Toko Shengelia (14.4 ppg., 4.4 rpg.), Will Clyburn (14.9 ppg., 4.9 rpg.) and Johannes Voigtmann (10.0 ppg., 4.5 rpg.) – is coming off a rare 21-point home loss against UNICS Kazan and should be ready to offer a very different performance. CSKA has a 9-6 record against ALBA in European competitions, won the last four games between them in the German capital, and conquered the 2015-16 EuroLeague title at Mercedes-Benz Arena, home of the 2022 EuroLeague Final Four.

  • Olympiacos has a 6-4 record against ASVEL in EuroLeague play this century.

Olympiacos Piraeus (10-5) will aim to remain undefeated at home when it hosts LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne (7-8) on Friday. Olympiacos, with eight wins in front of its fans this season, is led by Sasha Vezenkov (12.5 ppg., 5.7 rpg.), Tyler Dorsey (12.7 ppg.) and Kostas Sloukas (10.6 ppg.). ASVEL is on a three-game losing streak and has recorded only one victory in its last seven showdowns. Elie Okobo (17.1 ppg.) is its top scorer, followed by Chris Jones (14.0 ppg.) and William Howard (7.3 ppg.). Olympiacos big men Moustapha Fall and Livio Jean-Charles played for ASVEL in the past. Crvena Zvezda – Bayern

  • Zvezda is 3-2 against Bayern in EuroLeague play, but Bayern won both games last season.

Two teams that saw their respective winning streaks snapped earlier this week will look to get back on the winning track on Friday night when Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade welcomes FC Bayern Munich to the Serbian capital. Zvezda (6-9) saw a two-game winning streak ended when it fell to current leader FC Barcelona at home on Tuesday, 69-76. Bayern saw its own two-victory run falter at Olympiacos Piraeus, 83-60. Now both teams will look to get back to their winning ways in their sixth game EuroLeague meeting, a series in which Zvezda has the edge, 3-2.

UNICS Kazan (9-6) takes on visiting Zalgiris Kaunas (3-12) in their first meeting in almost five years. They are 2-2 against each other in EuroLeague action over the years.
