Anadolu Efes – Maccabi

Efes has won three straight games against Maccabi, all by scoring at least 90 points. While two of those victories occurred on the road, Efes has also won its last three home games against Maccabi. Furthermore, after winning the Turkish Cup on Sunday, Coach Ataman’s team is in high spirits. The Israeli champions’ perimeter defence has been a weakness, and Efes is ready to exploit that with a series of shooters at all positions. Efes can strive for another critical win if Larkin, Beaubois, Moerman, and Pleiss can keep the Maccabi defence on its heels.

Due to the recent resignation of Coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos, Maccabi Tel Aviv may use a different rotation or tactic in their first game under interim coach Avi Even. This season, Maccabi has struggled on the road, winning just once in its last nine games outside of Israel. In five of those games, it has been limited of scoring under 75 points, and it will need to raise it to keep up with Efes. If Zizic and Reynolds can create some noise in the paint, it might open up scoring opportunities for the rest of the Maccabi attack, which the perimeter players will need to capitalise on if they want to win in Istanbul.

basketball prediction Tip: 1 (-8.5) at 1.86 with bet365

Bayern – CSKA Moscow

Bayern has won 4/5 last matches and held its last two opponents to less than 60 points when they played at home. They are 8-4 at home this season, and Coach Trinchieri wants them to keep up the good work against CSKA, which won 77-74 thanks to Will Clyburn. That night, Bayern let CSKA get 14 offensive rebounds and shoot just 35.7 percent from two points, which led to a loss for them. CSKA has the most offensive rebounds (12.5 per game) in the league, and Bayern has the 15th best two-point shooting in the league at 51.1 per cent. They’ll need players like Hunter, Rubit and Radosevic to keep CSKA’s big men at bay and help their team win at home.

The team has been hurt all season. Milutinov, Shengelia, Clyburn, and Grigonis have all been out for long periods of time. Coach Itoudis and the rest of the team were able to rest and practise last week, which should help them get ready for the long run. One area where CSKA needs to improve is its defence. It has let opponents make 38.2% of their three-pointers, which is third in the league, and 54.2 percent of their two-pointers. Better defensive cohesion could make all the difference in Munich and for the rest of the season. More missed shots by the opponents could make all the difference in the long run.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (-4.5) at 1.90 with bet365

Zalgiris – Real

It beat Monaco in the last EuroLeague game, then won the Lithuanian Cup on Sunday with Lauvergne and Nebo at the helm. Lauvergne has been out for most of the season because of an injury. When he comes back, Zalgiris has a strong front line, which is exactly what they need against Real. Lauvergne is big, strong, and has a lot of experience. Nebo is quick and athletic, and Marek Blazevic is a rising star. As long as Zalgiris can match Real’s rebounding, they’ll have a better chance of winning two games in a row for the first time since November.

Real Madrid is trying to get back on track after losing its last two games and taking the top spot in the standings. Before that, it lost a 16-point lead against FC Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Copa del Rey on Sunday. Against Zalgiris, Los Blancos will try to get back on track. Zalgiris has beaten Los Blancos in each of their last four games, including 95-82 in Madrid in November. Against Zalgiris, big men Poirier and Yabusele led the way that night. With Zalgiris’s frontline now stronger than ever, three-point shooting could be the key. This season, Zalgiris has let opponents shoot 38.3% from the three-point line, which is second in the league. If Real’s shooters get hot from the three-point line, it could make a big difference in Kaunas.

Baskonia – Unics Kazan

Baskonia hasn’t had a lot of easy points this season. It is second in the league with 72.3 points per game. The only game in which Baskonia has scored 80 points is 6-1, but that doesn’t change its record. Another reason to tell Baldwin, Granger, Fontecchio, and others to keep up the pace this week is because they have a lot of work ahead of them. In contrast to Baskonia, UNICS has two road games in 48 hours. John Brown, Tonye Jekiri, and Mario Hezonja all played more than 32 minutes in Tuesday’s narrow loss to AS Monaco, which was their second game in a row on the road. It might be a good idea to take advantage of their tired legs, though.

UNICS is second in the league in three-point shooting (37.5 percent). Spissu and Mayo both hit late threes to help the team fight back from 15 down to tie Monaco on Tuesday, but Monaco won in the last minute. Even so, both Lorenzo Brown and Isaiah Canaan were unable to score for the team. He scored 6 and Canaan didn’t score again for the second time in a row. On two-pointers, they were 1 for 8 and 0 for 5; on three-pointers they were 0 for 5. When UNICS has lost five of its last six games, getting their go-to guards back in a rhythm is very important.

Olympiacos – Milano

During a bad stretch where they lost four straight games, Olympiacos looks like it is getting back on track. When Coach Bartzokas’s team played the reigning champions in their last two games, they won both of them. They then beat their archrival Panathinaikos in the Greek Cup final, which they won. Against one of the best defences in the league, Sloukas, Dorsey, and Vezenkov will be important. Set the tone and open up space inside, which has led Olympiacos to make 56.4 percent of its two-pointers, which is second in the league, which is good for second place. However, Milan has kept opponents from shooting 50.4% of the time on two-point shots. Olympiacos could win or lose this week based on how well they score in the inside.

Milan has won seven of its last eight games to move into third place with a record of 17-7. Since then, Milan has become the best team on defence, giving up just 70.4 points per game. It is keeping opponents from shooting 33.3 percent from beyond the three-point line, which could be very important if Olympiacos is a team that likes to score a lot. The Reds made 18 of 33 three-pointers at Mediolanum Forum in Round 12 on their way to a 72-93 victory. In that sense, stopping Dorsey may be very important for Milan, which relies on Delaney and Hall to do so in the back court.

Villeurbanne – Alba Berlin

Forward Howard has been out for a while because of an injury, but when he comes back, ASVEL Villeurbanne has a valuable player. This is a good time for ASVEL to use its size advantage in the paint. Coach TJ Parker has a lot of options in the paint with which to attempt to get Lammers and Koumadje into foul trouble. With Okobo out, Jones, Kahudi, and Knight should play the most at guard. It’s important for ASVEL to improve its turnover rate (13.4 per game) and its offensive rebound rate (9.1 orpg.) to have a better chance of getting win no.10 of the season.

Since the start of this season, ALBA Berlin has given up 79.6 points on average. But in its last two victories, the team has done a lot better. ALBA held UNICS Kazan to 53 points in Round 24 and Zenit to 67 points in Round 26, so Coach Gonzalez’s team needs to be able to play that kind of defence on the road. Koumadje and Lammers play an important role in the battles under the boards. ALBA relies on its best shooters for this game, and they will make a big difference for them. AlBA won the German Cup with help from Mattisseck and Smith. Eriksson didn’t play this weekend. Mattisseck, Maodo Lo, and Smith each hit three triples to help ALBA win. It could be very important for this game for us to keep Jones under control, as well.
