Euroleague Basketball Predictions

Euroleague basketball predictions Game 3 in the Euroleague play-offs and a place in the Final 4 is still up from grabs.

Our EuroLeague basketball tips appear under each mini game preview.

Bayern – Barcelona

Thanks to superb three-point shooting and 42 points from the bench, Bayern was able to recover from a series-opening setback to win Game 2. In the second game, Coach Trinchieri’s team made 13 of 27 three-pointers (48.1 percent), while keeping Barcelona to 7-of-23 three-point shooting (30.4 percent ). Barcelona’s bench scored just 23 points as well. Obst, who went 4 for 7 from long range, Hunter, Rubit, and Jaramaz all played vital roles off the bench, and if they can do so again, Bayern will be in great shape.

Barcelona had the most turnovers (13.9 per game) throughout the regular season, and that number increased to 16.8 in losses. Coach Jasikevicius’ team made 16 turnovers in Game 2 after giving the ball over only 10 times in Game 1. Bayern pounced on Barca’s errors by scoring 26 points off turnovers, more than doubling Barcelona’s tally of 10 turnovers. In Game 2, five different Barcelona players had multiple turnovers, and the squad will need to drastically reduce that number in order to manage the game in Munich.

Monaco – Olympiacos

Monaco thrashed Olympiacos in Game 2 by scoring 96 points, with its bench contributing 50 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals. The Reds were unable to keep up with Monaco’s fresh legs and were outscored in each of the final three quarters, with nine players appearing for at least 11 minutes. Monaco may now adopt a similar gameplan back home, but if Coach Obradovic’s troops were playing with house money in Greece, the pressure will undoubtedly mount at home, and how well they deal with it could be the most important factor in Game 3.

During the regular season, Olympiacos was one of the better teams in terms of ball security, with only 11.7 turnovers per game. With 8 turnovers in Game 1, the Reds improved on that, but more than doubled that in Game 2. Monaco took advantage of Olympiacos’ 20 mistakes for 27 points, tying the series and snatching home-court advantage. Olympiacos used a seven-man rotation for the majority of the game and only got 19 points from the bench. Olympiacos must decrease turnovers and produce more output from their second unit to reclaim the lead on the road.
