Euroleague Basketball Predictions

The Euroleague is already heating up and this week we’re heading to Round 9. Injuries, transfers and changes in the rosters of the Euroleague teams continue and there is always something new to consider during our research for the current games. We’ve done it though, so, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming up.

Yes, these are the best Euroleague basketball tips you can possible find and appear under each mini game preview.

ASVEL Villeurbanne – Bayern

In the inaugural Euroleague match at the brand-new LDLC Arena, Villeurbanne (2-7) takes on Bayern Munich (3-6), two clubs looking to start climbing the standings. Bayern has dropped their last four away games, while ASVEL has yet to win at home this season. The explosive Leandro Bolmaro, who has scored in double figures in three of the last four games, will be Nando De Colo’s backcourt opponent. The ASVEL veteran is just two assists away from achieving 1,000 for his EuroLeague career. ASVEL’s Youssoupha Fall, who has grabbed at least two offensive rebounds in each of the last five games, will pose a threat to Bayern, who lead the league in rebounding average (61 rpg) with 38.8 per game.

Maccabi – Barcelona

After suffering back-to-back road defeats, second-place Barcelona (7-2) will take on a formidable challenge when they travel to Belgrade to take on Maccabi Tel Aviv (5-3), a squad that has won three of its past four games. Following a thrilling victory over Fenerbahce at home, Maccabi is riding high thanks to a massive double-double from Bonzie Colson (13 points, 14 rebounds). In that game, Maccabi pulled down a league-high 22 offensive rebounds, thus Barca’s big men, Jan Vesely and Willy Hernangomez, will be needed to guard the defensive glass. The Spanish squad will also be hoping that Nicolas Laprovittola, who will face Maccabi skipper Lorenzo Brown, can find his scoring touch again after making only two of his ten field goal efforts in the team’s close victory over Valencia the previous week.

Panathinaikos – Valencia

Ergin Ataman will try to lead Panathinaikos (5-4) to a fourth straight win by defeating Valencia Basket (5-4) which has fallen down the standings after losing three straight games. Ataman earned his 200th victory in the competition on Friday by defeating Virtus. Mitoglou (17.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg) was the main reason the Greens won the double round week; his matchup with Valencia forward Ojeleye may prove to be vital. Two players that are well acquainted with one another will square off in the paint battle: Balcerowski of Panathinaikos and Inglis for the visiting side, were colleagues at Gran Canaria last season and won the EuroCup together.

Note that Panathinaikos scored exactly 91 points in the last three matches against Valencia (1W-2L)!

Panathinaikos Over 81.5 at 2.17

Virtus Bologna – Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce (5-4), which has lost its past three matches due to a slew of injuries, will pay a visit to Virtus Bologna (6-3), which is now in third place in the standings, with the aim of solidifying its position in the playoff race. In its last three games, Virtus has lost two, scoring 74 and 76 points respectively. Fenerbahce’s offence went into decline throughout its three consecutive losses, averaging just 71 points per game. Virtus is the third-best three-point shooting team in the league (38.2%), but its star player, Toko Shengelia, has only made one of his previous twelve attempts from beyond the arc. Scottie Wilbekin, who led the Turkish team with an average of 12.8 points per game and nailed five triples in last week’s hard loss at Maccabi, will always be a long-range threat for the squad.

3-Way Winning Margin – No win more than 6p. at 2.65

Real Madrid – ALBA Berlin

It’s first against last as league leaders Real Madrid (8-0) take on ALBA Berlin (1-7), who haven’t defeated the reigning champions in nearly 15 years. Louis Olinde (9.9 points per game), who has hit 69% of his two-point shots this season, will be ALBA’s main offensive weapon. The usually dependable Dzanan Musa, who scored 21 points to lead Super-deep Real past Monaco in Round 8 and has now scored double digits in three straight games, is available for callup. Real Madrid has defeated the opponents in all 14 of their EuroLeague encounters; anything other than continuing that run would be the season’s biggest surprise. Real will have to deal without the services of injured forward Guerschon Yabusele.
