Fenerbahce – ASVEL Villeurbanne

  • Fenerbahce is 7-2 in games this century against ASVEL.

Fenerbahce is one of the league’s finest ball-moving teams. The Canaries top the league in assists (18.8 per game) and turnovers (13.8 per game). Fenerbahce has found exceptional shooting opportunities as a result of their ball movement, particularly from the perimeter. This season, the club has averaged 9.3 three-pointers on 41.6 percent shooting in victories, compared to 6.4 threes on 28.6 percent shooting in defeats. Pierria Henry and Marko Guduric will be in charge of guiding the assault and ensuring that the Fenerbahce shooters get solid looks to help the team’s chances.

With Okobo and Jones playing lights-out basketball, Villeurbanne enjoyed a tremendous start to the season. However, majority of their scoring was done on their own, which explains why they are tied for bottom in the league in assists (13.6 apg.). ASVEL must move the ball better and create an inside scoring threat to put more pressure on a Fenerbahce team that is without Jan Vesely in the paint. Youssoupha Fall, who scored 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting last week in Barcelona, may be a strong possibility.

Barcelona – Bayern

  • Barcelona is 6-3 all-time against Bayern.

With an average of 83.0 points per game in 2021-22, Barcelona leads the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. It has been even better at Palau Blaugrana, where it has averaged 88.4 points in front of its supporters while shooting 57.8 percent inside the arc, 43.8 percent from outside, and 84.8 percent from the foul line. The hosts’ ability to continue distributing the ball as they have done so far should be crucial; Barcelona averages 18.3 assists a night and 19.6 at home. Stopping Vladimir Lucic might be crucial for Barcelona, who rely on Nigel Hayes-Davis, Dante Exum, and Rolands Smits.

Bayern Munich is tied for bottom in assists per game with 13.6, but has recently improved with 19 versus Bitci Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz. Over the previous three games, Corey Walden has hit 13 of 23 three-point attempts (56.5 percent), while the rest of the club is shooting 14 of 48 from deep (29.2 percent ). Finding more players who can shoot from beyond the arc with more accuracy should be a top focus for the German superpower. One of the keys to this game is stopping Nikola Mirotic, and Bayern needs Augustine Rubit and former Barcelona striker DeShaun Thomas to be physical against him.

Baskonia – Zenit

  • Zenit is 3-2 in games against Baskonia.

Baskonia has struggled with its shooting this season, and it won’t get any easier against Zenit’s tenacious defence. Baskonia is second-to-last in two-point (50.5%) and three-point (33.3%) accuracy, as well as scoring (72.0 ppg.). Zenit has allowed the second-fewest points (72.3 ppg.) and the fourth-most turnovers (11.2 per game), while holding opponents to poor shooting percentages (52.2 percent 2FG, 34.0 percent 3FG). To boost their prospects against Zenit, Baskonia’s go-to scorers, Wade Baldwin IV, Rokas Giedraitis, Simone Fontecchio, and Steven Enoch, must remain strong against the Zenit defence, not settle for weak shots, and shoot with great efficiency.

Last week, Zenit’s Alex Poythress had his greatest game of the season, which was greatly needed given the team’s absence of centre Arturas Gudaitis. With Gudaitis out, Poythress, Jordan Mickey, and Andrey Zubkov must shoulder the extra weight, and they must be solid on the glass this time against Baskonia. Zenit has outrebounded opponents by 4.3 boards per game this season, but that will be more difficult versus Baskonia due to a shorter rotation up front. If Poythress, Mickey, and Zubkov can preserve the rebounding advantage over the visitors, Zenit’s prospects on the road will improve.

Panathinaikos – Monaco

  • This will be the first time Panathinaikos hosts Monaco. Monaco won 75-63 in France.

This season, Panathinaikos has leaned significantly on their guards, particularly Macon Jr. (14.4 ppg.) and Nedovic (11.2 ppg.). Nedovic came off the bench for much of the season to help the offence, but he started the Greens’ last game. Stefan Jovic made his club debut in the game, giving the squad a third great performer in the backcourt. So if these players can contribute offensively while also limiting Monaco’s elite guards, Panathinaikos will be in good shape.

Monaco possesses players that can flourish in transition and fastbreaks, led by Mike James and Dwayne Bacon. In addition, the squad ranks third in the league in thefts (7.2 spg.). The better Monaco does on defence, the simpler it will be to push the pace and create openings for easy baskets, which is crucial in a tough road environment like OAKA.

Zalgiris – Maccabi

  • Maccabi holds a 19-9 record vs Zalgiris since 2000 and has three straight wins.

This season’s issues for Zalgiris began with offensive difficulties. The club ranks worst in the league in terms of scoring (69.3 points per game) and two-point shooting (48.2 percent ). Not surprisingly, in triumphs, both of those numbers rise to 78.0 points and 57.5 percent. This season, Maccabi has been vulnerable to three-point shooting but has played solid defence in the paint. Zalgiris might use big performances from Josh Nebo and Marek Blazevic to put Maccabi on the back foot on Tuesday.

Maccabi has won its previous two games with 36 assists and nine turnovers. Of course, both of those wins came at home, but if Maccabi’s ballhandlers – Scottie Wilbekin, Keenan Evans, and John DiBartolomeo – can duplicate those figures, the Israeli champions will be difficult to beat.

basketball prediction Tip: 2 (-2.5) at 1.90 with bet365

Crvena Zvezda – AX Milano

  • Zvezda holds a 6-2 edge in games this century, but Milan won the last two.

The match between Crvena Zvezda and AX Milan is expected to be a low-scoring battle between two of the league’s best defences. This season, Milan has conceded the fewest points in the league (70.7 per game), while Zvezda is nearly as excellent (73.4 allowed). Threes are one option for Zvezda to break through the Milan defence. In Milan’s six losses this season, opponents have shot 43.1 percent from downtown, but Coach Messina’s men have kept them to 29.0 percent in wins. If players like Austin Hollins, Nikola Ivanovic, and Nate Wolters get going from deep, Zvezda’s prospects improve.

This season, Milan’s defence has been so dominant that the squad is 9-2 when scoring at least 75 points and 3-0 when scoring at least 80 points. The squad also boasts the least turnovers in the league (11.0 per game), which leads to more shot attempts, but the combination of a sluggish tempo and bad shooting can spell disaster. Milan’s two-point percentage of 51.7 percent is in the lowest third of the league. If it can find a reference within, possibly Nicolo Melli or Kyle Hines, it will aid Milan’s overall attack in Belgrade.
