Euroleague Basketball Predictions

The Euroleague continues with a double-round week and the battle for the playoffs heating up. So, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming up.

Yes, these are the best Euro League basketball tips you can possible find and appear under each mini game preview.

Fenerbahce – Alba Berlin

On paper, rock-bottom ALBA (6-16) appears to be the ideal opponent for Fenerbahce (13-9) to end its two-game losing streak in the opening game on Friday. However, this EuroLeague season is more competitive than any before, and no result can truly be considered a “shock,” thus Dimitris Itoudis’ club cannot afford to be complacent against an ALBA team that has lost four straight. Fener will be desperate to rediscover early offensive fluidity after losing the first quarter 12-25 and 10-24 against ASVEL and Olympiacos, respectively.

Monaco – Real Madrid

In the principality, joint-third Monaco (14-8) is attempting to overtake co-leader Real Madrid (15-7). After a remarkable four-point play by Mike James forced OT in Madrid in December, a home win would give Monaco the head-to-head lead. James has led Monaco’s explosive attack to 94, 101, and 102 points in its last three games. Real needs another huge night from its leading scorer, Dzanan Musa, who has reached double figures in 19 games this season and scored 24 points against Monaco.

Zalgiris – Partizan

After losing its last two games, Zalgiris (12-10) is in risk of sliding out of the playoffs, and would be surpassed by direct rival Partizan (11-11) if the Serbian team can snap the host’s four-game winning streak in Kaunas. Partizan won the Round 5 matchup in Belgrade, 87-76, thanks to 26 points from Kevin Punter, who also scored 22 points against ASVEL earlier this week. His shot will be crucial in determining the outcome on Friday.

Olympiacos – Anadolu Efes

At a sold-out Peace and Friendship Stadium, high-flying Olympiacos (15-8) will aim to take a huge stride toward a top-four finish by defeating inconsistent defending champion Efes (11-11), which has won just one of its previous five on the road. Olympiacos has been led by Thomas Walkup, who has averaged 6.4 assists in the last five games, and his aggressive defence against Efes studs Vasilije Micic and Shane Larkin will be important for the Reds in this playoff-style showdown.

Baskonia – Panathinaikos

Baskonia’s (12-10) position in the top eight is in jeopardy following a run of five losses in six games, and the team will meet a motivated opponent as Panathinaikos (8-14) attempts to enhance its precarious playoff hopes. Baskonia is out for vengeance after losing 98-83 in Round 7 in Athens, where Georgios Papagiannis gave his side control of the paint with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. And the Spanish team needs to improve its defence after conceding at least 83 points in each of the previous seven games.

Asvel Villeurbanne – Virtus Bologna

The week finishes with a match between two ambitious clubs, ASVEL (8-14) hosting Virtus (10-12). The backcourt fight between former teammates Nando De Colo and Milos Teodosic, who excelled together when they guided CSKA Moscow to the title in 2016, will be a highlight. Teodosic continues to put in strong performances, including 9 assists in ASVEL’s win against Zvezda earlier this week, while De Colo remains ASVEL’s major offensive weapon, averaging 13.6 points per game.
