Crvena Zvezda – Real Madrid
Dangerous Zvezda (9-8) will try to climb into the playoffs with a visit from co-leader Real (11-6), which has won and lost in the last seven games. Zvezda will seek for another spectacular effort from emerging star Filip Petrusev, who won the MVP of the Round title last week and has now averaged 20.8 points and 8.0 rebounds in his previous four games. This week, though, he faces the daunting task of defeating Real behemoth Walter Tavares.

Monaco – Olympiacos
The first double-round week of 2023 kicks off with Monaco (11-6) hosting Olympiacos (11-6) in a high-powered clash between two of the five teams tied for top position. Perhaps more importantly, the head-to-head edge between them is up for grabs after Monaco won 76-81 on the road in Piraeus in October. Elie Okobo led the way with 23 points on that occasion, and he comes into this game in fantastic form, averaging 18.3 points over the last three games.

Alba Berlin – EA7 Milan
ALBA (5-12) will try to extend its winning streak by defeating visiting Milan for the third time in a row (6-11). Jaleen Smith has been instrumental in ALBA’s comeback in the last two games, scoring 21 and 18 points respectively, and his long-range shootout with Milan’s Billy Baron could be decisive. Baron failed not hit a three-pointer in Milan’s loss to Olympiacos last week, despite having made at least three in each of the previous four games, so he must restore his precision in the German capital.

Virtus Bologna – Zalgiris
After back-to-back wins against Fenerbahce and Barcelona, Virtus (8-9) will host in-form Zalgiris (9-8) in a duel for a spot on the playoff bubble. Two new players, Achille Polonara and Isaiah Taylor, may make their debuts for the visiting side; Isaiah Taylor is expected to play a significant role in lieu of the injured Keenan Evans at point guard. Zalgiris won by three points in their previous meeting in October; an away victory this week would give them a three-game lead over Virtus.

Bayern – Baskonia
Baskonia (11-6), now tied for first place, travels to Bayern (6-11), who has won two straight at home and is usually a tough opponent, hoping to get back on track. We should see a three-point shooting contest: Baskonia averages 29.1 three-point tries per game, while Bayern averages 27.8. Bayern lost by 25 points, 78-53, to Real Madrid in Spain a month ago, on a night when the German behemoth made only 18 field goals. The home team will be out for revenge.

Panathinaikos – Fenerbahce
Panathinaikos (6-11) will try to halt a five-game losing streak against Fenerbahce (10-7), which has also dropped five consecutive games and has seen its playoff place threatened. Fenerbahce will be hoping that star guard Nick Calathes can lead the team back to form on the court he has called home for a long time. The competition’s all-time assists leader has averaged just 3.6 assists each night during his team’s losing streak, down from 6.2 per game prior.
Tip: Team with highest scoring quarter Fenerbahce at 1.90
