Our EuroLeague basketball tips appear under each mini game preview.
Fenerbahce – Crvena Zvezda
When Crvena Zvezda (1-4) visits Fenerbahce (5-1) on the Asian side of Istanbul, Fenerbahce will want to resume its winning ways. A stunning 81-80 setback on the road in Barcelona, where big man Johnathan Motley shone with 23 points and 7 rebounds, was Fenerbahce’s first loss of the year.
On the other side, despite centre Petrusev having a career game with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists, Crvena Zvezda last week lost to Monaco 85-77. Fenerbahce is 3-0 at home so far this season, while Zvezda has lost four games in a row on the road. Fenerbahce plans to continue all of these streaks behind its top-ranked defence, which allows a league-low 72.2 points per game and has not defeated Zvezda in seven road meetings.
Additionally, Fenerbahce holds opponents to a 34.1% long-range shooting percentage and makes the opposition miss more two-point attempts than they make (49.8%). Zvezda, which enters the game averaging a league-worst 70.0 points per game, will have a difficult task.
Tip: Under 152.5 at 1.90
Real Madrid – Efes
Real Madrid plays host to Anadolu Efes in a highly anticipated matchup. A repeat of the 2022 EuroLeague Final will take place. Real (3-3) recently triumphed admirably in Milan on the road. Efes (2-4) is searching for its first victory on the road this year after a two-game losing streak. A premier matchup is anticipated at WiZink Center.
Injuries are a problem for both sides. Abalde and Hanga have returned to work for Real. This season, its cornerstones have been Round 6 MVP Musa (14.2 ppg, 15.0 PIR), Tavares (11.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.0 bpg), and Deck (13.7 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 18.7 PIR). But Efes is ready for another upset against the Spanish giants.
Tip: 2 (+5.5) at 1.90
Alba Berlin – Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich and ALBA Berlin will square off in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in the German capital. The last five German titles have been split between the two teams, with ALBA winning the last three. The two are among the top teams in the German League this season, although they are positioned differently in the EuroLeague.
ALBA is in the centre of the pack with a 3-3 record, but it has dropped its past three. This season, ALBA is unbeaten at home (2-0). Bayern defeated the champions last week despite being last in the standings with a record of 1-5. With five victories in as many games, Bayern has always controlled their rivalry in the EuroLeague.
Tip: Under 155.5 at 1.90
Olympiacos – Partizan
On Thursday, Partizan (3-3) visits Olympiacos (4-2) in a highly anticipated Round 7 matchup. Since 2010, Partizan hasn’t been to Peace and Friendship Stadium. Players Papapetrou and LeDay from Partizan visit Piraeus to play their previous team, and Zeljko Obradovic, the longstanding Panathinaikos head coach, takes over as Partizan’s head coach for the first time. Obradovic is 13-7 versus Olympiacos himself with teams apart from Panathinaikos.
Olympiacos had a four-game winning streak to start the season, but then suffered home losses to Monaco and Valencia. Its primary inspirations so far this season have been Vezenkov (20.8 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 26.3 PIR), Sloukas (12.8 ppg, 7.0 apg, 19.2 PIR), and Walkup (9.0 ppg, 5.2 apg, 13.8 PIR).
Tip: Partizan Over 76.5 at 1.76
Maccabi – Barcelona
When Maccabi hosts Barcelona on Thursday at Menorah Mivtachim Arena, it will put two winning streaks on the line. Maccabi (4-2) has defeated Barcelona five times in a row and is unbeaten at home this year (4-2). Barcelona last defeated Maccabi in November of 2019 and last triumphed in Tel Aviv three years prior.
Despite those trends, Barcelona is coming off a heartening victory, while Maccabi is coming off a humiliating loss. Last week, Baskonia defeated Maccabi 116-87, setting a new club record for scoring, while Barcelona defeated Fenerbahce 81-80 in a nail-biting match.
Tip: 2 (-2.5) at 1.90
Asvel Villeurbanne – Zalgiris
Round 7 of the Astroballe features a matchup between ASVEL Villeurbanne and Zalgiris, two clubs with a lot of momentum. ASVEL (3-3) aims for their third straight victory. Zalgiris (3-3) is seeking its first away victory and is unbeaten at home. Since the first meeting between the two teams in the 1985 Cup Winners’ Cup semifinals, ASVEL is 5-2 versus Zalgiris at home.
The home-court advantage and expertise of ASVEL will be crucial in this game. Joffrey Lauvergne, a former Zalgiris big man, suffered a season-ending injury, but it still boasts skilled players like De Colo (14.0 ppg, 4.0 apg), Lighty (9.8 ppg, 3.7 rpg), and Kahudi (4.8 ppg.). AsVEL’s primary reference in the paint is Fall (11.7 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 16.2 PIR).
Tip: 1 (-2.5) at 1.90
