Euroleague Basketball Predictions

The Euroleague regular season continues with a “double” week for the first time this season. After some exciting games on Tuesday and Wednesday, the action does not stop. So, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games:

Our EuroLeague basketball tips appear under each mini game preview.

Zalgiris – Barcelona

Just a few days after recording its first victory of the year, Zalgiris Kaunas (1-2) hosts Barcelona’s Jasikevicius and Jokubaitis (2-1) for the second match of the first double-round week of the season. Since 2000, two teams have faced off 32 times in the EuroLeague, with the visitors coming out on top 25 times.

After celebrating the retirement of legendary captain Jankunas’ jersey and the team’s first victory of the year—a thrilling 68–65 victory over Virtus Bologna—Zalgiris needs a second win. Despite only shooting 3-for-21 (14.3%) from outside the arc, Brizadeskis and former Barça player Smiths led the winning effort with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Fenerbahce – Valencia

When Valencia (1-2) visits Fenerbahce (3-0) on Thursday, they will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Valencia is coming off of their first victory of the year on the European side of Bosporus. Since 2004, Valencia and Fener have faced off 11 times in the EuroLeague, with the Spanish team winning 6 of those games, including the past two.

Edwards scored 19 points to help Fenerbahce defeat ASVEL 84-63 at home to start the first double-round week of the season. Motley, Wilbekin, and Calathes combined for 39 additional points in this endeavour. The hosts were able to make up for their 17 turnovers and 29–37 rebounding loss with 13 steals and a 12-for–27 three-point shooting percentage. Early in the season, Fenerbahce’s head coach Itoudis seemed to have found the correct recipe; on Thursday, the squad will try to keep it going at home.

Maccabi – Asvel Villeurbanne

When Maccabi (2-1) hosts ASVEL Villeurbanne on Thursday night, two clubs with recent opposing outcomes will square off (1-2). Since the turn of the century, these two teams have faced off eight times in the EuroLeague, with the hosts coming out on top five times.

On Tuesday, Maccabi overcame previously unbeaten Monaco, 78-70, to maintain its perfect home record. With 21 points, Baldwin had the most points. Lorenzo Brown, a backcourt partner, had 13 points and 7 assists. Maccabi overcame a 19-point deficit with a powerful fourth quarter. The fact that three of its players, Nebo, Poythress, and Hollins, combined for just 9 points, helping to offset Coach Kattash’s team’s dominance on the boards with its 43 rebounds and 19 assists.

basketball prediction Tip: Over 157.5 at 1.90

Bayern – Milano

When Bayern Munich (0-3) hosts EA7 Milan (1-2) on Thursday night, it will be seeking its first victory. These teams will meet for the 16th time in the EuroLeague, with Milan winning nine of the previous meetings.

Bayern has lost its first three games of the year, most recently 73-84 to Barcelona at home. Rubit led Bayern in scoring in the defeat with 19 points, and Winston contributed 11. The hosts’ 14 for 34 two-point shooting was a huge burden, as were the 7 assists, which matched for the poorest total in franchise history in the EuroLeague. The good news is that Bayern only made 5 mistakes. However, it also dropped the rebounding battle 26-38, and the club will need to improve collectively if it hopes to record its first victory of the year against Milan, one of the top contenders for the championship.

basketball prediction Tip: Winning margin 3-way 1-5p. at 2.65

Partizan – Virtus Bologna

When Partizan (0-3) hosts Virtus Bologna (1-2) in Round 4 on Thursday, one of the two teams that dropped close games in Round 3 will have the opportunity to save the double-round week.

In Tuesday’s home opener, Milan won 75-80 after Partizan held the lead for the majority of the game. Partizan suffered from turnovers in that defeat, but the hosts should take heart from their strength in the middle, where LeDay averages 19.7 points and Lessort 13.3 in addition to their top-ranked three-point shooting (43.9%). Partizan hasn’t had trouble scoring; instead, they’ve had trouble conceding more points (94.2) than any other side. In comparison to other EuroLeague teams, Partizan receives more assists (23.1) and makes more three-pointers (44.9%), and its two-point defence (56.7%) is second-worst.

basketball prediction Tip: Under 153.5 at 1.90
