Euroleague Basketball Predictions
After the first “double” week of the season, the Euroleague regular season continues. The action does not cease after a few exciting games. So, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games:
Our EuroLeague basketball tips appear under each mini game preview.
Crvena Zvezda – Bayern
Crvena Zvezda (0-4) and Bayern (0-4) enter their Round 5 encounter as the only two teams in the EuroLeague without a win this season. However, on Friday night at Aleksandar Nikolic Hall, one of these clubs will have the opportunity to begin their season and get back on track after a difficult start.
Zvezda made things difficult for Real Madrid in the last round of EuroLeague matches, but ultimately fell short at WiZink Center, 72-56, on a night when Bentil concluded with 17 points. Luca Vildoza, a new Zvezda acquisition, made his debut against Real Madrid and will be looking to build on his 10-point, 4-assist performance when Bayern visits Belgrade. One of Zvezda’s problems this season has been its offence, which ranks 17th in the league with 66.3 points per game. Improving on this will be critical if the team is to return to winning ways.
Tip: Under 146.5 at 1.90
Efes – Fenerbahce
Anadolu Efes (2-2) and Fenerbahce (4-0), the two Turkish clubs to ever win the EuroLeague title, face again in Round 5 on Friday at Sinan Erdem Sports Hall. Dimitris Itoudis (CSKA Moscow 2019) and Ergin Ataman (Efes 2021, 2022) are the last two EuroLeague champions to face again.
Following two losses, Efes is coming off a hard-fought home triumph over ALBA Berlin. Efes was led by Vasilije Micic, who had 20 points and 11 assists. Will Clyburn had 16 points, and Rodrigue Beabois had ten. So far this season, Clyburn (20.2 ppg.) and Micic (19.5 ppg.) have combined for 47.7% of Efes’ points.
Tip: 1 (-3.5) at 1.90
Asvel Villeurbanne – Baskonia
Baskonia (3-1) heads to France to face ASVEL Villeurbanne (1-3) at Astroballe after three consecutive home games. ASVEL leads Baskonia 3-2 at home in EuroLeague action. Baskonia defeated ASVEL 69-72 on the road last season. Youssoupha Fall, who worked with Baskonia from 2019 to 2021 and is currently with ASVEL, will return to his old haunts.
Last week, ASVEL suffered back-to-back losses and lost Joffrey Lauvergne to a knee injury. De Colo (14.4 ppg.) is the team’s highest scorer, followed by Fall (12.2 ppg.) and Mathews (8.2 ppg.). ASVEL averages 67.8 points per game and has made only 48.7% of its shots inside the arc and 31.5% of its shots from downtown, ranking 16th and 15th, respectively.
Tip: 1 at 1.86
Barcelona – Milan
Barca surprisingly lost on the road at Zalgiris Kaunas in Round 4 after having recovered from its opening-round defeat to Olympiacos Piraeus by downing Real Madrid and FC Bayern Munich. In front of an expectant crowd at Palau Blaugrana, head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius and his team will know that anything other than a victory will see more doubts creep in. It will not be easy against a Milan team that remains unbeaten on the road in 2022-23, however. Just as it did against Real in Round 2, Barca needs to put in a good performance during a win to calm any nerves and show the fans that the team is moving in the right direction.
Tip: 2 (+6.5) at 1.90
