Bayern v Atletico preview and tips

Bayern managed a thrilling qualification against Juventus, a simpler against Benfica and now they have to play ‘all-in’ against Atletico.

This is Guardiola’s last European game in Munich as a manager of the German champions.

The Bavarians had serious problems in central defense but Boateng is back and Martinez has been an excellent back up (more like drop back). Benatia is also an option after his return. Left full-back Alaba goes back to his natural position for the crucial match and Muller comes back in the starting XI. If Ribery also starts, it will feel like Guardiola is picking the team that supporters would pick. It is a very attacking side that will look for goals from the very beginning.

Robben is sidelined along Badstuber.

Possible lineup
Bayern: Neuer; Lahm, Martínez, Boateng, Alaba; Alonso, Vidal; Costa, Ribéry; Müller, Lewandowski.
Out: Robben (groin), Badstuber (ankle)

Atletico have knocked out Barcelona in the quarter-finals and are now targeting their second final in 3 years. Simeone’s men kept 15 clean sheets in their last 20 Champions League games. They hold 2nd place in the Primera Division having the same points with leaders Barcelona. They were 9 behind in March. The Champions League is an equal target for Atletico who wants to go all the way.

Simeone’s men have scored in all their important games but those with PSV. They will definitely try to score in Munich. Griezmann and Fernando Torres will pair again in attack. However, counterattacking will be the main tactics of the visitors.

Tiago is a long term and only absentee for the Rojiblancos.

Possible lineup
Atlético: Oblak; Juanfran, Giménez, Godín, Filipe Luís; Saúl, Gabi, Augusto, Koke; Griezmann, Ferando Torres.
Out: Tiago (broken leg)

Our bet: Atletico is capable of scoring against any opponent. They’ve done it in all their matches against great opponents. Bayern should score too (probably more), so we have backed Both Teams To Score (G/G) in the Allianz Arena. At 2.20 (6/5 UK odds) it has value.
