Real Madrid and Atlético to meet in a second Champions League final in 3 years. It is a repeat of 2014 final, when Real Madrid came back to beat Atlético in extra time. Sergio Ramos equalised in the injury time and made Atletico collapse ahead of the extra time (4-1). Madrid also triumphed 1-0 (1-0 at home, 0-0 away) over two legs in last season’s quarter-finals.

Real Madrid were almost out when they faced Wolfsburg, but guided by Cristiano Ronaldo managed to turn the tie around (3-2 agg). Madrid did not score in Manchester against City, but a 1-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu was enough to secure them a place in tonight’s final. Zidane’s players came 2nd in the Primera Liga 1p. behind Barcelona, but only became serious contenders for the title in the last few weeks.

Los Blancos seek the 11th Champions League trophy and Zidane has a lot to offer at this stage. Football is not only tactics but also psychology and the French manager has been in that stage many times before. He asked his players for “run, run and… run” if they are to win the trophy.

Real Madrid is without Varane, but Pepe and Ramos would be expected to start even at his presence.
