Efes – Khimki

Two teams going in different directions will square off on Thursday when Anadolu Efes Istanbul (10-9) welcomes Khimki Moscow Region (2-17) for Round 20 in their second game this week. Efes has won three of its previous four games, including the last against ALBA, 84-76, on Tuesday. Khimki is on a 10-game downward spiral, including a 75-87 home loss to Barcelona on Tuesday.

Efes seems to be finding its rhythm in recent weeks and now sits one spot shy of playoffs territory. Khimki has the worst defense in the league, allowing opponents 89.9 points per game, and the hosts will try to take advantage of that. On paper, however, these teams are not that far from each other. Of course, Khimki is loaded with offensive weapons, so despite the result from their previous encounter this season, Efes will be wise to pay attention to all the details to stay on its positive streak.

Efes signed Dzenan Musa, who is set to make his season debut.

Khimki is in danger of falling out of the race for the playoff spots, and the negative wave the team is riding does not help. But this team is loaded with quality players who can win any game at any time, and the tide could turn with just a single victory. The numbers say that Efes and Khimki are not that far apart, so the guests will have to play with heart in Istanbul and show a collective effort, especially on defense, that can bring them back to the winning path.

Janis Timma and Jonas Jerebko have missed the last three games. Greg Monroe has not played since Round 13.

basketball prediction Tip: Under 172.5 at 1.90 with bet365

ALBA Berlin – AX Milano

Two teams experiencing different dynamics will square off on Thursday when ALBA Berlin (7-12) hosts AX Armani Exchange Milan (11-7) in their second game each of this double-round week. ALBA, missing coach Aito Garcia Reneses due to COVID and several players with injuries, has lost five of its last six games, including the last one at Anadolu Efes, 84-76. Milan won its second game in a row with a strong home victory against Valencia, 95-80.

ALBA is juggling injuries and has not been able to field a stable lineup lately. Now, it faces one of the strongest rosters in the league. Milan comes off two prestige victories, at Real Madrid and against Valencia, and will seek its first three-game winning streak of the season in Berlin. ALBA has to capitalize on the offensive flow that ranks it second overall in assists while also looking for better options from beyond the arc against a Milan team that is second-most accurate in the league (42.0%) from that range.

Luke Sikma and Niels Giffey are expected to miss several weeks with injuries. Head Coach Aito Garcia Reneses has missed ALBA’s last four games after testing positive for COVID-19. Marcus Eriksson has missed ALBA’s last 10 games.

Milan is on a roll and will look to stay that way in Berlin. For starters, the guests average 5 points more per game and are also playing the third-weakest defense in the league. However, Milan remains at the bottom of the rebounds rankings (29.9 rpg.) and will have to secure those boards to avoid ALBA from running and scoring easily.

Vladimir Micov has missed the team’s last four games. Shavon Shields has not played the last two games due to a thigh injury.

basketball prediction Tip: Over 162.5 at 1.95 with bet365
(Price correct at 14/01/2010, 11:45 CET, subject to change)

Maccabi – Baskonia

Two teams coming off losses earlier will look to end this double-round week on a high note as Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv (8-11) welcomes TS Systems Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (9-10) to Israel on Thursday. Maccabi fell to Olympiacos at home in overtime on Tuesday, 87-89, while Baskonia suffered a heavy loss at Fenerbahce, 96-76.

These teams are practically even points scored and allowed, so inspiration will be the factor to watch in this game. Maccabi will have to limit the offensive flow of the guests, who live off their 19.5 assists per game. In overall figures, Maccabi’s average PIR is almost 10 points below Baskonia’s. The hosts could have an edge under the boards, but this game will be as close as they come.

After defeating CSKA last week, Baskonia will look to get back on the right track with another prestige win in Tel Aviv. Both teams compare closely in both stats and records, so expect a close game in which every detail could matter. Maccabi shoots a bit better from the stripe, but Baskonia shows better numbers from the field. The biggest edge the guests have over Maccabi is in assists, so if Baskonia can execute its trademark aggressive defense, it could translate into transition points and the desired win.

basketball prediction Tip: Maccabi Over 80.5 at 1.80 with bet365

Euroleague Basketball Predictions

The Euroleague continues with a double-round week and the battle for the playoffs is taking one of its final turns. So, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming up.

Yes, these are the best Euro League basketball tips you can possible find and appear under each mini game preview.

Maccabi – Fenerbahce

The excellent home record of Maccabi (13-13) will be put to the test when high-flying Fenerbahce (16-9) pays a visit, hoping to maintain its top-four position with a fourth straight victory. The return to fitness of Nemanja Bjelica, who finally played his first game of the season in last week’s rout of Virtus, has boosted the Turkish team. Tyler Dorsey, another new face at Fenerbahce, could make his debut in familiar surroundings after debuting in the competition with two strong seasons at Maccabi between 2019 and 2021.

2 at 1.90

Crvena Zvezda – Anadolu Efes

Efes (13-12) is looking to extend its lead in the table with a third straight road win and inflict more pain on host Zvezda (11-15), which is in a slump after losing six of its last seven games. Facundo Campazzo will make his home EuroLeague debut for Zvezda, and his ability to overcome Elijah Bryant’s strong defensive game will be crucial. In the absence of injured superstar Vasilije Micic, the Efes guard has stepped up big time, averaging 13.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in the last three games.

Under 159.5 at 1.90

Monaco – Panathinaikos

Monaco (16-10) will look to keep the pressure on the current top four by defeating Panathinaikos (8-18), which is looking to snap a five-game losing streak. A key matchup will take place between two potent shooters facing off against their former teams: Mike James, who played for Panathinaikos from 2016 to 2018, leads Monaco with 17.0 points per game, while Dwayne Bacon, who spent last season with Monaco, leads the Greens with 17.7 points.

Euroleague Basketball Predictions

The Euroleague continues with a double-round week and the battle for the playoffs is taking one of its final turns. So, let’s dive straight into our Euroleague picks for today’s games. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming up.

Yes! These are the best Euro League basketball tips you can possible find and appear under each mini game preview.

Alba Berlin – Zalgiris

With a trip to Berlin to play bottom-placed ALBA, struggling Zalgiris (13-13) will seek to improve its poor away form (7-19). The Lithuanian team has dropped out of the top eight after losing four consecutive road games, and it desperately needs to increase its offensive output after failing to reach 80 points in any of the previous eight games. ALBA should be an ideal opponent in that quest: the German team has allowed the most points, 85.3 per game, and was defeated 88-81 in November when the teams played in Kaunas.

Over 161.5 at 1.90

Olympiacos – Barcelona

As Olympiacos (18-8) welcomes Barcelona, a big battle between second and third could easily serve as a prelude to a Final Four meeting (18-8). Olympiacos is looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat at Milan last week, while Barcelona is on a five-game winning streak and has the added incentive of regaining the head-to-head edge after losing 70-80 at home to the Reds earlier this season. The game’s rhythm will be important: Olympiacos has the most assists in the league, 22.0 per game, while Barcelona’s defence permits only 13.4 assists per game.

2 (+3.5) at 1.90

Valencia – Milano

Milan’s (10-15) late surge up the standings will be put to the test with a journey to playoff-chasing Valencia (13-13), which is desperate to avenge a thrashing at Baskonia last week. Milan’s four-game winning stretch – all at home – was highlighted by a strong run of form from Billy Baron, who averaged 13.3 points and 3.5 assists during that time. After permitting at least 91 points in three of the last four games, three of which ended in defeat, it’s no surprise that Valencia will prioritise defence.

Over 158.5 at 1.90

Virtus Bologna – Partizan

Virtus (12-14) will seek to get back on track against a Partizan (14-12) team that is aiming not only for the playoffs but also for a spot in the top four. Partizan’s potent offence, which averages 84.8 points per game, is salivating at the thought of facing Virtus, which allowed 104 points to Fenerbahce last week. Virtus, in particular, allowed the Turkish team to hit 20 three-pointers in that game and now faces Aleksa Avramovic, who hit 5 three-pointers in last week’s victory over ALBA, so better perimeter defence is critical for Virtus.

Partizan Over 82.5 at 1.83

Real Madrid – Baskonia

Real (18-7) will seek for their sixth consecutive win by defeating visiting Baskonia (14-12), who could not be more confident of pulling off an upset after blasting 114 points against Valencia last week. Real Madrid is expected to be without Edy Tavares, who limped off the court in the team’s last EuroLeague game on Friday, so Baskonia may attempt to gain physical supremacy after grabbing an incredible 43 rebounds against Valencia. Guerschon Yabusele, on the other hand, is expected to return for Real at an appropriate time given the probable absence of Tavares.

Under 168.5 at 1.90

Bayern – Villeurbanne

Bayern (10-16) will try to keep its slim playoff hopes alive against an ASVEL (8-18) side with little time to climb the standings. The return to fitness of team leader Vladimir Lucic, who appeared for the first time since Round 10 in last week’s win over Zvezda and instantly delivered a big performance with 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field, has been a tremendous boost for Bayern. ASVEL has only lost by one point to Efes and four points to Real in its last two games, so its confidence should be intact for the journey to Bavaria.

Winning margin 7-way: 1-5 points at 2.90
